I’m not good at talking about myself

I have to make one thing clear before I launch into a description of myself. I am not good at “art speak”. I think the term "artist" has been weighed down with so much attitude and posturing that I have always preferred to refer to myself as a painter, which generally ends up with someone asking me how much I charge per room. But now that I am all official with a website and all I suppose I must do the mature thing and start referring to myself as an artist.
